It’s very possible that your big game changer is already what you’re doing and already what you’re immersed in. What you need to do is re-gather your focus and your energy to take the company you already have to the next level.
Whatever it is in your business that drives you and gets you to the point at which you want to work harder and harder to support your “big why” – to give back to your community or whatever your personal passion is – it’s critical that you refocus your energy into what’s right in front of you and that shiny object off to the side that’s trying to get your attention.
That’s not to say that you shouldn’t try new ideas, or maybe find a whole new direction for your business and your own career. But those things shouldn’t be promoted by the “Hey look at that. I want to try that.
And I want to try that.” When that shiny object on the wall catches your attention, you have to look very seriously at what you’re doing now and how that supports your personal “big why.” Before you charge full-steam ahead at this new idea or new thing, do some serious introspection about if and how it supports your “big why.”
