She was embarrassed, but told me she dropped her mobile smart phone in a toilet.  That was the start of a phone conversation yesterday morning.  Of course she was worried that all her information was lost and she would have to buy a new phone.  She was surprised that I had a easy solution.  You see I dropped my Blackberry in a stream a few weeks ago.

The screen flashed on and off, my navigation icons didn't work, I could not make calls, and finally the screen fogged up.

When I returned home, I took the battery out and used a hair dryer to dry it out, but that did not work.  My wife Carol then told me she had a solution she learned from a cop show, NCIS.  I was skeptical, but what the hell other options did I have?

She had me leave the battery out, remove the chip, and bury the phone, battery and chip in a bowl of dry rice.  The next morning the screen was clear.  When I reinstalled the battery and chip, the phone worked like it had never been drowned.

My friend with the "toilet" phone?  She just called to tell me her phone works just fine today.

Until next time,
