Here’s a blast from the past… a noted huckster and renowned Marketer of yore
named Phineas Taylor (PT) Barnum.
Born in the 19th century, Barnum was an entertainer, a businessman and eventually co-owner of the circus known as “The Greatest Show on Earth!”
It’s said that when he died, he was given more column inches in the papers than anyone ever before him – other than US Presidents.
He wrote several books on his life and successes, all worth reading, where he revealed his secrets to business. But there was one constant in his life that laid the foundation for his fortune… and it boiled down to one word:
PROMOTION!
“Without promotion something terrible happens,” he said, “Nothing!”
We’d all be wise to take seriously this advice. It’s all-too-easy to let the days slip by without taking regular, massive action on the task of getting our name and our business’s name out there before the eyes of the public.
So it’s not enough as a marketing strategy to come up with clever, unique, different ideas to promote your business – you need to take ACTION to put them to use!
