In April, 2010, Radicati Group… a marketing and technology firm out of Palo Alto, CA … determined that each and every day:

                                                294 BILLION Emails were sent!!!

Doing the math, that boils down to 2.8 million emails a second and about 90 Trillion emails every year.  That’s a lot of cluttered-up-in-boxes.

email clutterHave you ever wondered, however, about the very FIRST email message?  Who sent it? What did it say?

The man who created this flood of @’s that we all deal with daily was a computer engineer named Ray Tomlinson. In 1971, he was coding an electronic message program to enable programmers and engineers working on the ARPANET (the earliest version of the internet) to leave messages for one another.

His very first message was, as he recalled, “QWERTYIOP or something similar."
(If you don’t get that, look at your keyboard...)

From that humble beginning, a MASSIVE new form of media emerged.  And if you’re a savvy direct response marketer, you’ve already added email marketing to your bucket of lead generation and sales tools.

But knowing how to send email isn’t enough – as a business owner / entrepreneur, you want to make sure that the messages you send have a clear purpose and a means to determine their effectiveness.  Otherwise, it’s just more blather out there in the ether.
